Bracco Spin – Torviscosa
In 2018, Quantum was commissioned by Bracco Spin, a leading company in the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors, to intervene in the Torviscosa (UD) plant for a major upgrade of the lighting system, in one of the most challenging scenarios on the industrial scene: potentially explosive atmosphere (ATEX) environments.
The intervention covered various process areas subject to strict safety regulations, where every component, every connection and every design choice must ensure maximum protection against the risk of ignition, while maintaining high lighting performance.
The preliminary analysis phase was crucial: through field surveys, simulations and discussions with the client’s HSE team, the operating conditions, risk classifications and technical objectives of the new installation were defined. From here, Quantum started a tailor-made design, aimed at integrating ATEX-certified LED luminaires, capable of operating in classified areas without compromising the safety of environments or personnel.
The result was theinstallation of more than 900 ATEX LED lighting points, distributed over various production departments and processing lines. The selected luminaires, which are robust and specifically designed to operate in the presence of flammable vapours and combustible dust, were combined with the intelligent Quantum Light Manager (QLM™) control system, which allows the regulation of fluxes, real-time monitoring of operating conditions, and the historising of consumption and operating hours.
No less important was the energy and environmental aspect: the new plant achieved annual savings of close to 80% compared to the previous configuration, while improving lighting quality, visibility in the departments and the efficiency of maintenance operations, which are now almost zero. The intervention at the Torviscosa plant confirms Quantum’s ability to operate in critical and regulated industrial contexts, providing reliable and tailor-made solutions that combine safety, performance and sustainability.
