Forgital FMDL – French factory

The project realised by Quantum at Forgital FMDL, a Forgital Group company specialising in industrial forging based in Saint-Chamond, in the productive heart of France, is a concrete example of integrated energy upgrading in a complex and heterogeneous industrial context.

The programme covered the entire production facility, divided into departments by function and operating conditions: cutting, forging, rolling, heat treatment, non-destructive testing, logistics, maintenance workshop, outdoor areas, offices and common areas.

Each department was analysed individually to understand its specific lighting requirements, environmental conditions (such as high temperatures, presence of dust or humidity), workflows and staff safety needs. This necessitated a detailed, area-specific lighting study, followed by a careful selection of the most suitable LED luminaires in terms of performance, durability and resistance.

Quantum’s design approach allowed for no interference with production cycles or established company procedures, ensuring a smooth transition to the new lighting system.

In addition to the significant energy savings achieved, which contributed to the overall sustainability of the intervention, one of the results most appreciated by the company was the considerable increase in lighting quality, with improved luminous uniformity, absence of glare and greater safety for operators even in harsh working conditions.The Forgital FMDL project confirms how a lighting redevelopment intervention, if well designed and oriented to the real operating conditions, can become a strategic tool for the efficiency, productivity and well-being of the entire plant.
