A light can produce data. But who owns it?

A connected light can communicate when it was switched on, how long it operated, whether it recorded a fault, how much energy it consumed and, when integrated with other devices, it can help describe what is happening in the space where it is installed.

A lighting system is no longer simply a collection of luminaires. It becomes a valuable source of information. But this can raise an important question: who owns the data produced by a lighting system?

Value is no longer just in the hardware

With digitalisation, an increasing share of an infrastructure's value lies in what the system can know and communicate.

Imagine a large building. After several months of operation, it may be possible to determine which areas are used most frequently, which luminaires experience the most faults, how energy consumption changes throughout the day and which patterns are repeated over time.

This information can be useful for decision-making.

But it can only become truly valuable if it is accessible, understandable and usable.

With Quantum, data does not remain isolated

This is precisely why Quantum's Control System was designed according to a different approach.

Quantum Manager does not simply control the lighting system: it collects and makes available the information generated by the devices, while Quantum Data Analysis (QDA) centralises this data in the cloud, making it possible to monitor multiple sites, access historical data, configure alerts and generate reports.

The Quantum system can also be integrated with ERP, BMS, MES and third-party systems, allowing information from the lighting system to interact with the other tools already used by an organisation.

This means that data generated by lighting can become part of a broader view: a resource that can be used for analysis, management and decision-making.

A system that grows with the company
